CHECK LIST FOR DATA BACKUP  

Please print this page, this process will only need to be done once (approx 5 minutes)

You should have:

•  Successfully joined Data Safeguard (DSG) and received receipt of payment

•  Received 3 emails from DSG: ‘ Welcome' ‘User Info' & ‘Service'

 

1. Getting Started

•  Save the attachment dsgbackup.zip from email and unzip the file.
Password to unzip file is in 'User Info' email

•  Click on the file to install and follow prompts. (the service may start on completion of install)

2. Configuration of Service

• On your Desktop you will find an ICON, double click to launch.


Setting up your Base Options

In the top MENU bar – go to TOOLS --> OPTIONS and Tick the options as below

Account User details

•  Using the same top MENU bar – go to TOOLS --> OPTIONS, on the left click on SERVERS.

Sample B – Service Setup

•  Double click on the ftp.datasafeguard.com.au and enter your account name (User) and Password from 'User Info' email.
eg. User: ep130823 Password: ***********

Now click TEST, you should receive an Infomtion Dialogue Box - TEST OK.

Email setup

•  So you can be sent emails when your backup runs, you need to know your email details, these can be found through either from:

    • Microsoft Outlook or you email application
    • If using Hotmail, gmail, yahoo or similar webmail, this can be found on there sites.

In most cases your ISP will be your email server (SMTP).

•  Under MENU bar – go to TOOLS --> OPTIONS, on the left click on SERVERS. On the right under SMTP SERVERS, click the ‘ + ' symbol
on the right and fill out settings with your details, similar to below.

Sample D – Email setup


For SUBJECT add the following:
Company / Name DSG backup job '%PROFILE_NAME%' had %JOB_RESULT% failures

Under ‘Include Recipients' you can have data@datasafeguard.com.au in the BCC : field

This will be notify DSG when your backup runs and it has failed. In the event of this

occurring we will contact you within the next business day to assist you with any problems.

Now click TEST.

THAT'S IT FOR THE CONFIGURATION.

NOW JUST TO SET THE BACKUP:

One you have set the backup, now set the schedule.

Once you have run a backup, test that you can restore (retrieve) you files
